Pushing through what’s tough

April 11th, 2007 · No Comments

Tuesday evening the boys track team took on the Memorial chargers in a cold yet fast meet. Unfortunately the CHS boys lost 47 to 84. Though the boys did not come out on top, it was a powerful night for a few of the events. Mike Lakner was one of the positive faces at the meet, he placed first in the long jump.

“I am really happy with how I jumped, of course I’m always shooting for that school record,” Lakner (11) said.

Besides the rough competition, the boys also encountered another obstacle at the first outside meet of the season, the freezing air. Tuesday evening the temperature wasn’t higher than 45 degrees, and it showed on the boy’s faces.

“The meet was freezing, I kept dreading it when I had to take my sweats off, but sometimes the cold weather helps you run faster,” Javier Escovar (10) said.

Ready and knowing what comes the next, the boys will be pushing even harder the rest of the season, and are preparing for new goals.
